About New Zealand white wine
New Zealand is tucked away in a remote corner of the globe with a glorious, unspoilt landscapes that truly is clean and green. There are no nuclear power stations and no polluting landmass nearby. After all, it is 1,600km away from the nearest landmass.
The winemaking is very unique. The cool maritime climate of New Zealand and the diversity of incredible soils fascinated and fascinate winemakers. Coastal vineyards are in rain shadow, there are long sunshine hours (average 2,200 annually), sea breezes and cool nights that account for long ripening periods, develops great acidity and fruit balance.
The wine regions span latitudes of 36 and 46 degrees – so there are very different wine styles available for you to choose from. You could of course start with some Sauvignon Blanc. or try any of the other lovely whites.

New Zealand white wine: more than a one trick pony. It is true, with New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, the country has invented a new wine style that has taken the wine world by storm. But is also produces great examples of other white grape varieties such as Chardonnay, Kiwi favorite Pinot Gris, Riesling, and Viognier.
Due to the maritime climate of New Zealand, the wines retain the fresh natural acidity while displaying powerful flavours at the same time.
