Made by Vigneron of the Year NZ 2025: The wine is a carefully curated blend from two distinct sub-regions, capturing the best of Marlborough. Combining the restrained structure of the Awatere with the fleshy, tropical stone-fruit notes of the Wairau, this wine offers incredible complexity. With 18% barrel fermentation and extended time on fine lees, it delivers a soft, multi-layered palate of guava, lemongrass, and ripe passionfruit. A world-class, dry style that balances juicy acidity with a sophisticated mineral finish.

TWR Sauvignon Blanc 2024
Reviews
Cameron Douglas MS: 94/100. Ripe, pure, vibrant, varietal and with a touch of elegant softness, a bouquet of irresistible charm. On the palate a dry wine with a core of flavour and texture. red apple and nettles, some cape gooseberry and fresh pineapple. Taut, crisp and dry with an organic texture, lovely mouthfeel and length. A wine ready to drink on day of purchase through 2029+.
Erin Larkin, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: 93/100. The 2024 Sauvignon Blanc comprises a blend of fruit that is estate grown and certified
organic and purchased fruit (from a close grower in the Awatere Valley) that is certified
as sustainably farmed. The wine offers passionfruit, pink grapefruit, lemon oil, and
green leafy herbs on the nose and very attractive chalky phenolic grip in the mouth. This
beautiful wine is restrained, textural, juicy and long. 13.5% alcohol, sealed under screw
cap. Drink 2025 to 2030
Stephen Wong MW (The Real Review): 93/100. The 2024 vintage in Marlborough is the gift that keeps on giving. Anna and Jason Flowerday, our Vignerons of the Year 2025, have released their rendition from this floral, expressive harvest and it delivers everything one would want from classic Marlborough sauvignon blanc, measured entirely in deliciousness.
Fresh and vibrant sauvignon blanc with very expressive, generous flavours of gooseberry, citrus and cucumber along with juicy layers of accessible complexity in the form of cherry tomato, elderflower and warm, turned earth. The delicious, mouth-filling flavours cascade over the palate right to the zesty, fruit-driven yet dry finish. Unpretentious and charming wine for enjoying over the next couple of years. Drink: now to 2028
Christina Pickard, Wine Enthusiast: 93/100. Rich, all-encompassing aromas of fleshy, honey-drizzled passionfruit, peach and pink grapefruit—with freshly sliced bell pepper waiting in the wings—lend vibrancy to this fleshy, almost creamy wine. Dry but with oodles of fruit, this is a well made Savvy B from a small, organic producer that's both crowd pleasing and food friendly.
James Suckling (JamesSuckling.com): 92/100. Juicy, mellow and seductive, with sweet lemons, fresh herbs and some pineapple on the nose. Medium-bodied with fresh acidity. Plenty of succulent lime character on the palate, with a fresh, bright finish. Drink or hold. Screw cap.
Tasting Note
This 2024 release shows distinctive Awatere characters of white currant, elderflower, with guava and lemongrass, coupled with lovely ripe passionfruit & tropical notes and hints of basil and lime from the Wairau. These follow through to the palate which is fine and soft with loads of fleshy fruit balanced by a ripe, juicy acidity and lingering minerality. There is real fruit weight here and that is complimented by lovely texture from the time on lees and the barrel parcels - It is utterly delicious!

Vineyard: This 2024 Sauvignon Blanc is a blend from two specially selected vineyards in two different sub-regions of Marlborough. One of the vineyards is in the Wairau valley - Te Whare Ra (30%) and the other is in the upper Awatere Valley - Shamrock (70%). The growing conditions in the Awatere are characterised by cooler temperatures and slower ripening, which is all important for flavour development and ripe acidity. The Wairau experiences warmer days, longer sunshine hours and a bigger diurnal range. These climatic differences result in wines which have lovely fleshiness and texture, and which are characterised by riper tropicals and stone-fruit with a lovely line of minerality.
Winemaking: The larger parcels of fruit for this wine were select machine picked and the home block portion was all hand-picked and hand-sorted. The free-run and soft pressings parcels were combined for fermentation. The majority of the parcels underwent slow, cool fermentation in stainless, with 18% of the blend fermented at warmer temps in older French oak demi-muids. All parcels spent time on fine lees, post ferment for texture. This wine has not been fined and is suitable for vegans and vegetarians and anyone else who loves authentic, hand-made wines.
