Framingham Sauvignon Blanc is made to be typically Marlborough in style, with a few great tasting twists. The focus is on the texture of the wine, giving it some richness and mouthfeel so that it is not lean or austere. This is one wine that won't give it all away on the first sip.

product description

Framingham Sauvignon Blanc 2025

Tasting Note

Classic Framingham – layered, dry, and textural. Engaging and complex aromatics with ripe yellow citrus such as Meyer lemon and gentle herbal notes lead on the nose. The palate is lively with volume and mouthfeel, framed by flavours of passion fruit and sweet jalapeno notes, making for an interesting flavour profile. A fine boned acid finish gives the wine structure and persistence. A small portion fermented in acacia and oak puncheons adds subtle texture and complexity to the finish.

91/100

Delicious, chiseled and fresh, with lemons, dried mangoes and herbs on the nose. Medium-bodied with vivid acidity and character. Textured and succulent, with a mouthwatering finish. Drink or hold.

90/100

Classic, vibrant, salivating and packed with flavours of citrus and pith, apple and some stone fruits with a wet pebbles idea. Grapefruit and tropical passionfruit, pineapple and nettles, a backbone of acidity and saline note. Well made and ready for Summer 2025/2026. Best from day of purchase through 2028.

Additional information

Type: White wine

Grape variety: Sauvignon Blanc

Enjoy with: Beautifully matched with all kinds of seafood, particularly shellfish, exotic salads and don't be afraid of spice.

Wine region: Wairau Valley, Marlborough, New Zealand. Sub regions Lower Wairau, Rapaura, Southern Valleys.

Vineyards: The fruit for this wine was sourced from 5 different vineyards all situated in the Wairau Valley. 50% was from the stony river-bed soils of the western Rapaura/Central Wairau, 30% is from the fertile silt loams of Lower Wairau, and the remaining 20% sourced from the clay soils of the Southern valleys. All vineyards are certified sustainable by SWNZ. The vines range in age from 8 to 30 years old and are trained using a 3-cane guyot system.

Soil type: Various, including stony river-bed, fertile silt loams, and clay soils.

Vintage 2025: A mild winter led into a warmer than average and relatively settled spring with timely rainfall which provided excellent conditions for vegetative growth. No frost events were recorded so the vineyards got off to a great start. December provided ideal conditions for flowering and therefore, high yields were set across all varieties. January was cooler, at which point harvest dates felt a long way off. February and March saw more settled conditions and as predicted the bulk of our fruit was picked in early April, which was a week later than in recent years. Despite some unusually humid conditions and the odd rain event, we were able to harvest fruit in great condition whilst meeting flavour and ripeness parameters.

Winemaking: Each of our sites provides different characteristics and are kept separate during the fermentation process to give us options come blending. Juices were predominantly fermented in stainless steel tanks at cool rather than cold temperatures to ensure varietal character is harnessed. 10% of the final wine was fermented in large format (500L) oak and acacia puncheons. The aim here is not to impart an oak signature as such but to add subtle textural qualities to the eventual blend. 80% of the blend was aged on full ferment lees for 5 months to promote mouthfeel, complexity, and longevity. Individual batches were then graded prior to blending in September and bottled in October 2025.
