Bob Campbell, MW (The Real Review): 96/100. Taut, pure chardonnay with flavours of lemon curd, grapefruit and mineral - like licking marble. Impressive purity and subtle power. The wine has a seductive, ethereal quality that is difficult to describe but easy to appreciate. Should develop well with bottle age. Ageing: now to 2030.
James Suckling (JamesSuckling.com): 95/100. Very complex with nougat, brioche, cooked apple, and white peach aromas and flavors. Full yet fresh. Layers of fruit and toasted oak character. Long, long finish. Terrific white. Drink or hold.
Michael Cooper: 5 stars. Already delicious, the 2021 vintage was grown in a single vineyard at Roys Hill (not la collina). Bright, light lemon/green, it is full of youthful drive. Mouthfilling, it has concentrated, ripe stonefruit flavours, mealy notes adding complexity, impressive vigour and complexity, finely integrated oak and a lasting finish. Full of personality, it should be long-lived; best drinking 2025+
Tasting Note:
Ripe, full fruit (peach, apple, citrus) with complexity perfectly balances with the oak. A fresh and elegant Chardonnay, moderately tight and restrained in its youth but with time it will open up to a rich, food friendly wine.

Winemaking: 2021 was yet another in a run of great Hawke’s Bay vintages. The fruit was 100% hand-picked, then whole bunch pressed to French oak barriques for fermentation. As with all of our Chardonnays, the Trelinnoe Chardonnay was fermented with indigenous yeast. The wine spent 11 months in oak prior to bottling; there was no fining or cold stabilisation. There are no additives other than sulphur
