Review Tony Bish Fat & Sassy Chardonnay 2020Cameron Douglas MS: 90/100. Classic Tony Bish wine - immediately recognisable, fruity, luscious bouquet laced with sweet scents of vanilla, oak and nut then peaches and apples, apricots and cream. On the palate - plush, fresh, satin textured and fruity with flavours that reflect the nose. A fine vanilla cream and custard layer of oak adds palate texture and depth, a contrasting acid line and decent weight makes this crowd pleasing style punch well above its weight. Best drinking from purchase and through to the end of 2023.

Rich aromas of pears, orange peel and vanilla butter. The palate is full bodied with nectarine, peach, passionfruit and vanilla. The finish is creamy and soft with a fresh citrus aftertaste.

Vineyard: Fat & Sassy Chardonnay is produced from selected premium Hawke's Bay vineyard sites, predominantly in the Bridge Pa Triangle district. These soils are red stones with volcanic ash and wind blown loess layers. Very free draining and mineral rich, providing excellent characteristics for premium viticulture.

Winemaking: The winemaking relies on French Oak fermentation and 9 months maturation on full lees with occasional lees stirring to derive richness and palate texture. The use of a large 90hL French Oak Cuve adds depth and complexity.

Bottle size: 0.75l

Notice: Contains sulfites.

Cellaring potential: Fat & Sassy Chardonnay drinks well from release and will improve for up to three years cellaring.
