Reviews and accolades
MUNDUS VINI Summer Tasting 2022: Gold & Best of Show New Zealand.
Cameron Douglas MS: 94/100. Lovely bouquet with aromas of fresh red apple and vanilla spice, baked custard and peach, smoky barrel scents and brazil nut butter. Full, richly scented and youthful. Equally impactful on the palate with a full-bodied mouthfeel - silky cream texture, warm and generous with a core of white and yellow fruit flavours that reflect the bouquet. Smoke and spices from oak, fine tannins layering in mouthfeel and a roasted nut butter complexity. Well made and ready to drink from day of purchase and through 2026+.
Sam Kim, Wine Orbit: 96/100. This is gloriously satisfying; showing grilled peach, lemon peel, vanilla and cedar characters with nuances of brioche and popcorn. The powerfully concentrated palate displays depth and plush mouthfeel, beautifully complemented by creamy texture and juicy acidity. From St Leonard's Vineyard, Central Wairau Valley. At its best: now to 2030.
Tasting Note
Lemon meringue and citrus aromatics are supported by primary aromas of peach and fig with subtle jasmine and citrus blossom florals. Some high-quality oak adds a wisp of smoke and some vanilla, flint and caramel notes. The palate is beautifully textured, with almond, citrus rind, and spice falvours sprinkled over a core of crème brulée. A subtle oyster schell minerailty gives way to a long lingering finish.

Additional information
Wine type: White wine from New Zealand
Grape varial: Chardonnay
Alcohol: 13.5% vol
Food match: Chicken, pork, creamy dishes, crayfish
Vineyard: St. Leonard's Vineyard, Central Wairau Valley, Marlborough.
Soil: The soils are loam / clay over well-drained sandy / stony alluvial deposits. Once again the clay/loam component of the soils give more richness to the wines. The block is planted in mature Mendoza Chardonnay vines. This is a very low cropping block due to vine age and the Mendoza clone. The Mendoza clone with its 'hen and chicken' bunch morphology results in wines with lovely linear acidity.
Winemaking: The fruit was handpicked and transported to the winery where it was whole bunchpressed. The juice was left to settle very briefly before being racked to barrel with high solid. Once in barrel it was inoculated with non-saccharomyces yeast strains to add complexity and mouthfeel to the naturally occuring citrus and stone fruit pressions te Pa gets from the site. Natural, full malolactic fermantation occured in spring. This wine was left in barrel until early March before being racked to tank for settling oder the following vintage. Three months later the wine was racked and bottled, without fining or filtration.
