Reviews and Accolades
Winestate: 97/100. Delicious young, this bright, light pink wine is fresh and full-bodied, with very good intensity of vibrant strawberry and peach flavours, a hint of apricot, and a finely balanced, dry finish.
Cameron Douglas MS: 92/100. Bright, clear, light red and pink hues with a highly polished appearance. Aromas and flavours of strawberries and raspberry cream, roses, sweet cranberry and red melon. Light-weight, very crisp, salivating, fruity and dry on the finish. Flavours of cherry and roses with a touch of citrus and tropical papaya on the finish. Fresh, crunchy and ready to drink from day of purchase and through 2023.
Michael Cooper: 4.5 stars. Delicious young, this bright, light-pink wine is fresh and full-bodied, with good intensity of vibrant strawberry and peach flavours, a hint of apricot, and a finely balanced, dry finish.
Sam Kim, Wine Orbit: 91/100. It's delicately lifted on the nose showing raspberry, crunchy apple, lemon peel and floral aromas, followed by a finely expressed palate that's beautifully ripe and lively. Elegant and approachable with a charming crisp-dry finish. At its best: now to 2023.
Complex and perfumed bouquet of peach, red fruits, cherry blossom florals, with spice and confected notes. Dry and textural with a crisp clean finish. Watermelon, strawberries, spice, and lavender are finished with a gentle vein of lingering acidity and a moreish hint of salinity.
Varietal: Pinot Noir, Merlot
Aromas and flavours:
Food match: Melons & Stone fruits, Soft cheeses, calmon, oysters
Alcohol: 13.5% vol
Vineyard: The Omaka North Vineyard is situated on the Southern side of the Wairau Valley, and the Old Man Vineyard is in central Rapaura. The soils in both of these areas are free-draining silt loams. The cool nights and warm days from this part of the valley allow the grapes to gain ripeness, whilst retaining freshness and acidity.
Winemaking: The fruit for this wine was gently pressed and the free run juice was fermented cool in stainless steel tanks, in the manner of a modern aromatic white wine. This wine is suitable for vegetarians and vegans as no animal derived fining products were used.
