Quartz Reef Chardonnay 2020
Reviews
Cameron Douglas MS: 96/100. Extremely enticing bouquet with seductive aromas of fresh white peach and red apple, wildflowers sweet lees, oak and earthy mineral complexities. Equally enticing on the palate with vibrant and refreshing flavours of stone and tree fruits, citrus and mineral. Barrel spices and lees along with a generous acid line set the foundation and texture contrasted by the core of fruit. There's a natural synergy to this wine coating the palate with flavour, texture and a touch of mystery. Delicious to drink from today and through 2035+.
Michael Cooper: 5 stars. … the classy, youthful 2020 vintage was estate-grown, hand-harvested and fermented with indigenous yeasts in French oak casks. Bright, light yellow/green, it is fragrant, with intense, ripe, peachy, slightly toasty flavours, showing excellent vigour and complexity, and a long finish. Full of personality, it’s well worth cellaring to 2023.
Tasting note
Aromas of citrus blossom, melon and grapefruit with hints of roasted hazelnut. A palate of nashi pear and citrus with subtle notes of vanilla supported by delicate oak, soft acidity and mineral texture.
