Neudorf Toms Block Pinot Noir 2019

Reviews for Neudorf Tom's Block Pinot Noir 2019:

FalstaffFalstaff Magazine (Falstaff International New Zealand Pinot Noir: Tasting the Place, Anne Krebiehl published on 15.02.2022): 95/100. A floral note of dried rose petal mingles with Darjeeling leaf and some pepper on the delicious nose. More air also adds a notion of baking spice. On the palate, ripe, red cherry fruit expands aromatically, is almost luminous and comes with lovely depth. The tannins are smooth but crunch like starched velvet. The depth of that spiced fruit is just so alluring and resonates so long.

review Neudorf Tom's Block Pinot Noir 2019Bob Campbell, MW: 95/100 & Top Rank. Dense, intense pinot noir with dark cherry, peat, malt, anise, spice and dried mushroom flavours—a complex mix of fruit and savoury elements. A deliciously accessible wine that should develop well.

Bewertung Neudorf Tom's Block Pinot Noir 2019Cameron Douglas MS: 94/100. Grown in Moutere clay gravels soils utilising a natural fermentation process, matured in oak for 18 months before being bottled un-fined and unfiltered - presents a wine with aromas of raspberry and tart cherry, ripe cranberry and a touch of whole berry lifted fruit scents. Floral too with a sweet rose then aromas of wood spices and a touch of smoke. Tense on the palate with firm chalky tannin texture, youthful too with plenty of acidity. A lovely example ready for cellaring till 2022 with best drinking from then and through 2028. Enjoy today as well with food.

review Neudorf Toms Block Pinot Noir 2019James Suckling ( 93/100. There's such fresh and attractive ripe red cherry on offer here with plenty of spice and perfume, too. The palate has juicy cherry flavor at the core and the tannins are so nicely crafted. Fresh style with good intensity. Drink now.

Review Neudorf Toms Block Pinot Noir 2019NZ Wine Rater (Steve Bennett MW, Lynette Hudson): 94/100. An intense, harmonious, complex, and appealing bouquet with aromas of damson plum, mushroom soaked in balsamic, grilled vegetable, and brown spice. A bold, flavoursome, and tasty style with a rich core of black forest gateau mocha flavours balanced by saline freshness with firm but ripe tannins. Impressive.

Tasting note

The deep, indigo ink in the glass is immediately alluring. Ripe blueberries, cherries, raspberries, fine cocoa tannins. Although full of flavour and body, this wine is enduringly elegant, refined, refreshing, with an uplifting minerality and vibrancy. A wine which offers a full juicy mouthful with a lingering complex finish. Just as the wine flows to the end of your palate there is a surge of flavour maintaining a satisfying mouthfeel.

Vintage: This will be remembered as an extreme season, not only in terms of temperature and rainfall (lack of) but with events such as forest fires and water shortages. Strangely, fruit composition was excellent, not over ripe as one might expect, and as result we see wines that have a density but also a refinement.
