Reviews
Cameron Douglas MS: 96/100 & Wine of the Week. There's no mistaking the varietal charm, core of red berry fruits scents and pinosity. Complex and youthful bouquet. Delicious on the palate with a core of red berry fruit flavours, there's a savoury seam accentuating some dried herb qualities and sweeter toasty oak spice layers. Complexity layers in through an abundance of polished tannis and youthful acid line, cherry, plum and some ripe cranberry flavours. The acidity pulls everything together adding its own texture and freshness to a very lengthy finish. A fantastic wine, best cellared for another 1 - 2 years with best drinking from 2024 through 2034+.
Bob Campbell, MW (The Real Review): 95/100. Delicately scented and quite floral wine with violet/rose petal, cherry, anise/spice, cherry/berry and subtle oak flavours. Aromatic and appealing wine with purity and subtle power. Perfectly formed. Drink 2022-2030.
Tasting Note
A virtual fruit compote loaded with juicy strawberries, plum, cherries and blackcurrants - gently poached and lightly infused with cloves, Chinese five-spice and forest floor. An intensely perfumed Marlborough pinot with fruit sweetness, floral highlights and a distinct smoky fragrance. The full-flavoured palate is chock-full of red and black fruit and has great length, firm but delicate tannins and a delicious spicy finish.

Vineyards: Marlborough, New Zealand. All fruit was grown in Marlborough's Southern Valleys and principally sourced from the Yarrum Vineyard situated on the Brancott / Ben Morven ridge. Typical of this subregion, the wind-blown loess soils are comprised of clay-loams with differing degrees of gravel content. The vineyards are primarily hillside plantings with a high vine density of 3800 plants per hectare.
Winemaking: The grapes were hand-harvested and chilled overnight prior to hand sorting. Most of the fruit was then de-stemmed into open-top fermenters, the majority of which also had a percentage of whole-bunch inclusion. The fruit was left to soak on skins prior to the onset of indigenous yeast fermentation, then plunged daily. After fermentation the wine was pressed, racked and filled to French oak barriques (30% new). Individual clones were aged separately in barrel for 11 months, prior to blending in late February 2021. The wine was bottled in November.
