Ein intensiv duftender Pinot Noir mit Aromen von Weihnachtsgewürzen, Pflaumen, Erdbeeren, dunkle Kirschen und Veilchen. Am Gaumen geht der vollmundige Wein in einen komplexen Geschmack von Pflaumen, dunklen Kirschen und Beeren über, die von Gewürzen und floralen Noten bestens unterstützt werden. Die Säure ist perfekt integriert und sorgt für Vitalität im Wein. Die Tannine sorgen für eine herausragende Textur. Ein sehr langanhaltenden Abgang.

VINOUS - Rebecca Gibb MW: 97/100. One of the most charming and gentle expressions of Martinborough Pinot Noir you'll find, with its depth of fruit akin to holding a heavy ball in the palm of your hand, such is its midpalate weight. There's an abundance of tannins, but they are as resolved as tannins get, lightly coating the palate. The fruit was picked a little earlier than usual due to the warmth of the season in a bid to preserve tension and also keep the alcohol level at a very reasonable 13%. The acidity provides freshness and precision, giving the wine length and shape. While primary fruit is not front and center, on the finish it blossoms, offering cherries, cinnamon and clove spice. A very complete wine. Drinking window: 2021-2030.

Cameron Douglas MS: 95/100.  Smoky, savoury, lots of pure red berry fruits aromas, clove and baking spices, roses and silty soil scents; complex. On the palate - flavours of plums and raspberry, macerated cherry and roses. Layers of new oak and baking spices begin to weave through the palate with medium+ chalky textured tannins, medium+ acidity and a youthful core of energy. Well made, classic Dry River, very youthful and quite complex, lengthy detailed finish, a delight to taste. Decant for service or wait till 2022 and through 2026+ to enjoy at its best.

James Suckling (JamesSuckling.com): 94/100. A very complex nose with plenty of forest-floor and leafy aromas across red cherries, herbs and spiced-woody notes. The palate has a very plush and open-knit feel with fresh red cherries and bright, zesty acidity. Neat and fresh. Drink or hold.

Bob Campbell, MW (The Real Review): 94/100. Bright, high-energy and slightly edgy pinot noir with dark cherry, violet, raspberry, fresh herb, anise and spice flavours. A firmly-structured red with a backbone of peppery tannins that are locking in flavour at this early stage but suggest a promising future.

Michael Cooper: 5 Sterne. Dark and densely flavoured, this Martinborough red ranks among New Zealand’s greatest Pinot Noirs. It is grown in three company-owned vineyards - Dry River Estate, Craighall and Lovat - on the Martinborough Terrace, and most of the vines are over 20 years old. Matured for a year in French oak hogsheads (20 to 30 per cent new), it is a slower-developing wine than other New Zealand Pinot Noirs, but matures superbly. The 2018 vintage (5*) is an elegant, very youthful red, deep ruby, with a finely scented bouquet. Full of potential, it has deep cherry, plum and spice flavours, a hint of tamarillo, savoury notes adding complexity, fresh acidity and a very harmonious, persistent finish. Open 2023+.

Weinherstellung: Trauben wurden zu 65% entrappt, Reifung für 12 Monate in 300l und 350l Eiche (15% neu).

Tipp: leicht unter Zimmertemperatur bei 16-18°C servieren, damit die Aromen voll zur Geltung kommen und mindestens 1 Stunde dekantieren.
