Weinbeschreibung
Dry River Lovat Vineyard Syrah 2016
Degustationsnotiz

Cameron Douglas MS: 97/100 (Classic: a great wine). Intense and captivating bouquet of Syrah with aromas of dark raspberry, baked red berry fruits, dark and broody abstracts with smoky toasty oak. The hallmark of freshly ground pepper and meaty earthy qualities completes the aroma package. This is a "wow" wine on the palate - complex, focused and detailed. A core of fruit flavours that reflect the nose, abundant acidity, ripe youthful tannins and a complexity that can only come from a carefully managed vineyard. This wine is drinkable today - with or without food. It can also be cellared with confidence for the next five to ten years.
Bob Campbell, MW: 96/100 & einer der besten 3 Syrah 2016 aus Neuseeland. The Dry River Lovat Vineyard Syrah 2016 is a dense, concentrated yet supple red with floral, violet, black pepper, plum, dark berry and smoky, chocolate and mocha oak flavours. Powerful, age-worthy wine that can be appreciated now but will certainly reward anyone with the patience to hold it for another 5-10 years.
Gourmet Traveller Wine: Best Buy Wines (Wines to cellar). Low-yielding vines and stellar vintage conditions have contributed towards the creation of a classic syrah with serious cellaring potential. It?s a dense, concentrated yet supple red with floral/violet, black pepper, plum, dark berry, liquorice and smoky/chocolate/mocha oak flavours. A truly complex, fruit-forward wine with obvious power but certainly not lacking finesse. It can be appreciated now but anyone with the patience to hold it for another five or more years will be rewarded.
Decanter: 94/100.There's something about Martinborough Syrah... when it's good it can contend with Hawke's Bay ? and the world. This wine is truly delicious: inky, dark and wonderfully aromatic, with the pepper and herb mix close in style to Hawke's Bay, along with a plush, juicy, black and blue fruit palate with wonderful freshness and length. This comes from one of Martinborough's most renowned vineyards, over the road from Ata Rangi. Drinking Window 2020 - 2030
Joe Czerwinski für Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: 94/100. Already throwing out considerable sediment, the 2016 Lovat Vineyard Syrah became a vibrant purple hue in the glass. Violets and cracked pepper make for an enticing nose, and that's backed by blueberries and blackberries on the palate. It's medium-bodied but intense, with just-ripe tannins and bright acids that give the wine a precise, elegant feel and lengthy finish. One of two great Syrahs from Martinborough (the other being Kusuda's), it should drink well for a decade or more. Drink Date 2021-2030.
